Biographical / Historical Note

The material portrays the interference of the State in the labour conflicts between the employers and employees from the South region of Brazil, a rural area where the coal miners work were prevalent between the 1930s and 1950s. Custodial History

These papers have been under the custody of the Labour Courts of São Jeronimo and Pelotas, Brazil. The documents were digitized by the Memorial da Justiça do Trabalho no Rio Grande do Sul. The Memorial donated two CD-roms to the IISH.

This collection was acquired by the IISH Latin America Desk 2012-2013

Content

Digital copies of about 300 labour grievances settled in the Labour Courts of São Jeronimo and Pelotas, both cities located in Rio Grande do Sul state, the south region of Brazil. The documents are recorded on two CD-roms organized by the Memorial da Justiça do Trabalho no Rio Grande do Sul.
